WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Town council members conducted a required public hearing Monday on a $600,000 state grant for water system improvements.
The grant must be filed by Sept. 30. Plans call to replace asbestos water line, some valves and water hydrants and to establish a new communications system to regulate water usage.
The town’s match would be $77,000.
In other business, councilmen:
- Approved an ordinance allowing for fines to be paid at the town hall within 10 days to eliminate additional court and attorney fees. After 10 days, the citations will be given to the county.
- Accepted the resignation of Randy Griswold as town marshal and named Anthony Pruitt, a Warren County deputy sheriff, to replace him.
- Approved a three-year contract with Hap Industries of Jonesboro for Christmas decorations at $2,000 per year.
- Heard an update on the Patriot Festival Sept. 23-25 from Carol Harper.
Cayuga, Ind.
N. Vermillion seeks loan
North Vermillion school board members seek a state school construction loan for repairs to the elementary school and the high school.
Plans are for work on the elementary school roof and brickwork at the high school. Total cost would be more than $4 million.
In other business, board members:
- Accepted resignations from Dean Dunham, industrial technical education teacher; Matthew Miller, Spanish teacher; Ernie Simpson, physical education and health teacher and football coach; and Joy Dust, Title I instructor.
- Hired Juan Montanz, Spanish teacher; Cedric Lloyd, health and physical education teacher and football coach; Shelly Harrison, district treasurer; Jessica Griffin, special needs student assistant; Leann Purdy, Title I assistant; Andrea Potter, special needs assistant; and Donna Conrad, prime time assistant.
