DANVILLE —
Danville Area Community College campus is offering two classes in the new Julius W. Hegeler II Greenhouse. Instructor: Amanda Krabbe.
Basic Vegetable Gardening: Students will learn the basics of vegetable gardening including garden site selection, vegetable selection and supplies, preparing the soil and planting techniques. The established gardener will learn how to maintain his or her garden. Discussion will also include warm and cool season vegetables and starting your plants from seeds. Class cost: $25. This class will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursdays, April 5 and 12.
Composting: Students will learn how to cut down waste by building their own compost in their backyard. Students will also learn different composting techniques, the compost process and how they can turn that compost into valuable nutrients for their gardens. Class cost: $15. This class will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19.
