BUFFALO CITY, Ark. —
BUFFALO CITY, Ark. — Baxter County authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the identities of two people who died in a Tuesday plane crash north of Buffalo City, according to the Baxter Bulletin, in Mountain Home, Ark.
Authorities say the plane was a 1982 Cessna T-210 6-seat passenger plane registered to Monterey Bay Aviation Inc., Watsonville, Calif., Capt. Jeff Lewis with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office told the Baxter Bulletin. The single-engine prop plane carries six seats.
The flight originated from the Vermilion Regional Airport in Danville, and was in route to Georgetown, Texas, Lewis said. A detailed flight plan was not filed, so authorities do not know dates and times of the trip, he said.
According to a flight-tracking Web site, the plane left the Danville airport at 9:45 a.m. on its way to Georgetown, Texas, which is near Austin. The flight was scheduled to take 6 hours and 20 minutes.
The Federal Aviation Administration did not know the number of people on board or their identities, Lewis told the newspaper.
The FAA said there was no distress call or mayday reported, and the plane simply dropped off radar, Lewis said.
A resident reported the plane crash after seeing a plane go down about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The crash was in woods off Inwood Lane, north of Buffalo City.
Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will be in Baxter County today to begin their investigation, authorities said.
