Danville

Saturday:

Retail theft at Lovely Nails in the Village Mall, 2917 N. Vermilion St.

Sunday:

Property damage at Dairy Queen, 1203 E. Main St.

Monday:

A man arrested for violating an order of protection in the 400 block of South Buchanan Street.

A TV and DVD player stolen in the 1000 block of Giddings Street.

Property damage in the 3100 block of North Vermilion Street.

A counterfeit $20 bill reported at Circle K, 2606 N. Vermilion St.

Deceptive practices reported in the 200 block of Delaware Street.

A man arrested for possession of a controlled substance in the 1000 block of Campbell Lane.

A man arrested for theft and unlawful use of a weapon in the 1600 block of Skyline Drive.

Burglary in the 700 block of North Hazel Street.

A woman arrested for retail theft at Kmart, 2721 N. Vermilion St.

A stolen purse at Aldis, 502 S. Gilbert St.

Burglary reported at the Village Mall, 2917 N. Vermilion St.

Trespassing in the 200 block of Edwards Street.

Theft in the 900 block of Elm Street.

Identity theft in the first block of Maplewood Drive.

Medication stolen in the 400 block of Harmon Street.

Unlawful use of a weapon in the 600 block of South Street.

Theft and property damage at Courtesy Ford, 3533 N. Vermilion St.

A man arrested for unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct and no FOID card in the 300 block of Bradley Lane.

Vermilion County

Monday:

Domestic dispute in the 100 block of Pollock Street.

Domestic dispute along County Road 420N, Indianola.

A man arrested for burglary in the 700 block of West Elm Street, Hoopeston.

A man arrested for violating the sexual offender act in the 400 block of South Street, Westville.

Tuesday:

Property damage along County Road 372N, Indianola.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Saturday, 5:20 a.m. At Townway and Countryway involving Lacy Williams, 20, of Georgetown. She was cited for driving without insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.

Sunday, 6:30 p.m. At Fairchild and Gilbert streets involving Rodney Collins, 63, of Elgin, and Linda Carder, 58, of Fairmount. Collins was cited for driving without insurance.

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Monday, 11:28-11:42 a.m. A burning investigation in the 900 block of Kingdom Avenue.

Monday, 12:13-12:41 p.m. A medical call in the 300 block of Porter Street.

Monday, 12:57-1:22 p.m. A medical call in the 300 block of Oakwood Street.

Monday, 3:59-4:16 p.m. A medical call in the 700 block of McReynolds Street.

Monday, 4:24-4:35 p.m. A burning investigation in the 900 block of May Street.

Monday, 4:33-5 p.m. A burning investigation at 706 May St.

Monday, 6:24-6:54 p.m. An illegal burning at 903 May St.

Monday, 8:13-8:29 p.m. A medical call in the 900 block of Bahls Street.

  • Colson Racing in the Blood

    Ron Colson attended his first Indianapolis 500 when he was 7 years old. That was 66 years ago. He’s missed only one of the Memorial Day weekend classics since then, and that was in 1950 when he had the mumps. He grudgingly handed his prized ticket over to his uncle that year. Luckily for the 10-year-old, it was one of the few early years when the race was televised, and the family friends who owned Crane’s TV Shop in Hillsboro, Ind., invited him to come watch it with them.
