Public meeting set on East Main Street project

DANVILLE — Cross Construction, Inc. will serve as host for a public information meeting from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Cross has been awarded a contract by the Illinois Department of Transportation that consists of widening, resurfacing, adding a bi-directional turn lane and modernizing traffic signals along U.S. Route 136 (Main Street) from National Street to west of Lick Creek.

Plans and specifications will be available for review in Conference Room 306 of Vermilion Hall, the main building as one drives into campus, at Danville Area Community College.

Representatives will be available to answer any questions.

Georgetown council to sell water to coal mine
What the village of Homer was unwilling to do, the city of Georgetown has agreed to do. Specifically, city council members approved a contract Monday with Sunrise Coal LLC of Terre Haute to provide, initially, 300,000 gallons of production water a day. After the mine is up and running, the city could boost that supply to 500,000 gallons of water a day.
