JOSEPH EVAN CHAPMAN


Joseph Evan Chapman, 14, of Westville passed away after a long battle with leukemia at 5:35 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

He was born April 17, 1995, in Danville, the son of Joseph B. and Rhonda Kearbey Chapman.

Survivors include: his mother, Rhonda Chapman of Westville; his father, Joseph (Shelby) Chapman of Ellaville, Ga.; three sisters, Brittany (Shaun) Neal of Westville, Hillary Chapman of Westville, and Kaelynn Chapman of Ellaville, Ga.; two brothers, Benjamin and Evan Chapman of Ellaville; maternal grandma, Mary Nose of Newport, Ind.; maternal grandfather, Jack (Sandra) Kearbey of Ellaville; maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Grimsley; paternal grandma, Patsy Icard, and paternal grandfather, Benny Chapman; nieces and nephews, Alahna, Kaleb, Kameron, Steven; uncles, Shane (Michelle) Kearbey of Ridge Farm and Ernie Green; Aunt Charmon Chapman of Ellaville; cousin Tyler and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jarrett, and his uncle, Gary Halstead.

Joseph graduated from Westville Junior High this past May. He loved watching NASCAR and playing his Playstation and his computer. He loved watching the History Channel. He was very outgoing and loved having fun. He never met anybody he didn’t like.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Sandusky Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his name to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
