GEORGETOWN — Timothy Allen “Flash” Oakes, 53, of Georgetown, passed away at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.

He was born April 18, 1959, in Danville, the son of Noah and Mary Boone Oakes, both deceased.

He was united in marriage to Darling “Morning Dove” Benefiel on March 6, 1982, in Danville. She will miss him dearly.

He also will be missed by his daughters, Samantha “Morning Star” (Ryan) Ghibaudy of Westville and Emily “Morning Flower” (Tyler Washburn) Oakes of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Carter “Three Feathers” Ghibaudy and Chloe “Morning Sun” Ghibaudy, both of Westville; his brothers, Gerald “Butch” (Lynette) Oakes of Freemont, Neb., and Gary (Darlene) Oakes of Westville; his sisters, Linda (Dean) Ballard of Paris, Ill., Becky (Keith) Kramer of Paris, Mary “Janet” (Larry) Cash of Danville, Debbie Whitlaw of Melrose Park, Sheila (George) Haworth of Ridge Farm and Patricia Cash of Danville; and sister-in-law, Betsy Oakes of Georgetown.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel, and his father-in-law, Bennie Benefiel.

Timmy was employed with Watson General Tire in Danville. He was a mechanic and alignment technician and had been part of the management team. In the past, he had also helped teach alignment at Danville Area Community College. He also liked to do bodywork at Danny’s shop, Oakes Collision & Repair, where they spent a lot of time together.

In his spare time, Timmy enjoyed going fishing before his arthritis prevented him from doing so. He also liked to do woodwork, which he learned from his brother, Danny, and was an avid Mark Martin/NASCAR fan. Above all, Timmy cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Timmy was a casual person and the family requests that people dress in casual attire to honor him.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville. Memorial donations may be given to the family for help with expenses or to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
