DANVILLE — Barbara Jean Miller, 79, of Danville passed away at 5:35 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.

Barbara was born July 21, 1933, in Danville to Frederick and Bessie (Frankenburger) Van Volkenburg.

She married Harold Miller in January 1953 in Danville. Harold preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by three sons, Michael Miller of Springhill, Fla., and Mark Miller and Steve Miller, both of Danville; one brother, Hobart Van Volkenberg of Alabama; one sister, Bessie Ruth Smith of Danville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gritton, Mark Gritton, Mikayla Miller and Miranda Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Christian and Julana Gritton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five siblings.

Barbara worked in food service her whole life, mainly in Danville District 118 for more than 20 years, and then retiring from the VA in 1998. She loved playing bingo, euchre and especially the Illinois Lottery.

A celebration of life memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Doug Knapp officiating. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Sunset Memorial Park.
