Lula Kate Lambert

DANVILLE — Lula Kate Lambert, 99, of St. Charles, Mo., and formerly of Danville, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Barns Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Mo. Her children were at her side.

Lula was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Flat Rock, Ky., to Walter and Maggie Wright Shadden.

Lula is survived by one son, Jim (Ann) Lambert of Urbana; three daughters, Ms. Audrey (Joe) Vira of Beckley, W.Va., Ms. Joy (Ray) Maxey of Melbourne, Fla., and Ms. Karen Ruth (Gene) Lampin of St. Charles, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ishmael J. Lambert; son, Dickie Kidwell; daughter, Marie Jones; and two sisters, Melba Arnold and Ruth George.

Lula had a very special relationship with her grandson, Chic Lampin, along with his children, Jack and Paige Lampin, who gave her special care during the last two years.

Lula enjoyed reading and walking on the beach in Florida. She loved her family and lived for her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Lula’s life will begin at             2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with Pastor Robert Fairchild of First Assembly of God, Covington Ind., officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
