Ruthmary Miller

MURPHYSBORO — Ruthmary Miller, 94, of Murphysboro, and formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 26, 2012, at Rehab & Care Center in Murphysboro.

She was born June 23, 1918, in Georgetown, the daughter of Guy and Minn Yelton Emory.

She married Albert J. Miller on Nov. 18, 1942, in Festus, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2007.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Jacquelyn “Jackie” Krueger, of Murphysboro; one son, Michael Allen “Mike” (wife, Kathleen) Miller, of Gainesville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Ramona Miller Ridlon, Joshua Miller, Guy Krueger, Caleb Krueger and Erin Miller Kimbler; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville for one year and finished her education and obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois in 1941. She taught school near Champaign, Ill., and Biloxi, Miss.

She was a member of the Congregational Church in Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Country Club, where she was instrumental in starting the bridge clubs there.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville.

Memorials are suggested to Illinois College. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.          airsman-hires.com.
