John Richard Reed

CHENEYVILLE — John Richard Reed, 72, of Cheneyville, passed away at 5:34 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.

He was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Danville, the son of Russell and Hilda (Branson) Reed.

He is survived by one brother, Monty Reed of Cheneyville; one sister-in-law, Karen Reed of Hoopeston; one nephew, Jason (Dianna) Reed of Milford; and two great-nephews, Blake and Jacob Cole Reed of Milford.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and one brother, Ronnie Reed.

John worked at Joan of Arc in Hoopeston for 16 years. He was a member of the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene, Hoopeston Lions Club and the Illiana Antique Auto Club of Danville.

He was an avid volunteer at the Hoopeston Multi-Agency and CRIS Senior Services. John will be best remembered for always being there to lend a helping hand.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Memorials may be made to Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene, 402 E. Honeywell, Hoopeston, IL 60942.
