MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif — David Eugene Hinkle, 61, of Mountain View, Calif., passed away Dec. 30, 2012, in Santa Clara County, Calif.

Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, David was born May 7, 1951, to Rex Aaron and Kathryn (Haven) Hinkle Sr. in Mattoon.

He is survived by his mother, of Illinois; two brothers, Rex (Kathy) Hinkle Jr. of Hollister, Calif., and Stephen Ray Hinkle of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Trish (David) Walter of Oakwood; nieces, Shawn (Mike) June of Indianapolis, and Stepheny Hinkle of Albuquerque; nephews, Wade (Alesia) Hinkle of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Aaron (Beata) Hinkle of Pacifica, Calif.; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.

Later David became a software and hardware consultant for private corporations, including Pacific Scientific in Hollister, Calif.

As a hobby, he worked with electronics, including a recent project in which he donated his time to develop a sensor to be used by a visually impaired child to aid in training to ride an AMBUCS AmTryke.
