Clifford Thomas “Butch” Watson Sr.

DANVILLE — Clifford Thomas “Butch” Watson Sr., of Danville, passed away at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana.

Clifford was born Sept. 10, 1954, to Earl Watson and Eunice Kathleen (Grayson) Jones in Chicago.

He married Barbara Hoaks on Nov. 7, 1992, in Danville. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother; son, Clifford T. Watson Jr. of Danville; daughter, Jennifer (Cory) Allen of Champaign; grandchildren, Michelle Grob and Brody Allen; sister, Norma Draper; brother-in-law, Michael (Shelly) Hoaks; sisters-in-law, Mary (Ronnie) Johnson, Anne (Mike) Luksza and Cindy Roberts; Braxton and Weston Garretson, who adopted Butch as their grandfather; and many special friends.

Clifford was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Jones; grandma and grandpa Grayson; uncle, Tommy; niece, Tracy Draper; and several in-laws.

An avid outdoorsman, Clifford enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing and had collected hundreds of die-cast cars. He was a people person who loved his animals almost as much as he loved his family. Clifford will be remembered as a man of great faith and will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known his laugh.

A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Oakhill Cemetery, with the Rev. Wiggins officiating. After the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Cedar Grove Church in Danville for a meal and a sharing of memories.

Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville is handling arrangements.
