John Thomas Wheeler

DANVILLE — John Thomas Wheeler, 71, of Danville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born June 12, 1941, in Danville to Hilmer and Frances (Steven) Wheeler.

In loving memory of our dad, he is survived by his children, John C. Wheeler of Iowa, Sharie L. Smith of California, Sheryl L. Wheeler of California, Danny J. Wheeler of Missouri, Jason T. Wheeler of Missouri, Skip T. Wheeler of Danville, and Kelly Thompson of Danville.

John was a student at Oakwood High School. He received four medals for his service in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1969.

John was a carpet layer, truck driver and avid Western book reader.

John did not want a service and had requested cremation. He did receive full military honors at the Veterans Affairs cemetery, and there will be a plaque in his honor.

In celebration of John’s life, memorial contributions can be made to: VA Illiana Health Care System, in memory of John T. Wheeler.
