POTOMAC —
Brenda Jeanne (Armantrout) Mockbee, 60, of Potomac, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Brenda was born March 30, 1952, in Aurora, the daughter of Scott and Helen (Creighton) Armantrout.
She married Michael Mockbee on May 17, 1975, at the Church of Christ in Potomac. He survives.
She also is survived by two daughters, Nicole Gregoire of Enosburg, Vt., and Becky (Beris) Robinson of Portsmouth, Va.; one son, Owen (Amy) Mockbee of Hoopeston; three sisters, Marla Haas of Hoopeston, Deanna (Robert) Acton of Collison and Debra (Daniel) Howser of Knob Noster, Mo.; one brother, Mark Armantrout of Universal City, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Abby Parks, Kyle Walsh, Casey Mockbee, Shane Gregoire, Darian Willis, Noah Mockbee, Jon Mockbee, Tristin Willis, Jacob Mockbee and Lynn Eris Robinson; sister-in-law, Marsha (Bill) Morris of Georgetown; lifelong friend, Jean Gildersleeve of Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Claudia Armantrout; brother-in-law, Mark Mockbee; and a niece, Erica Howser.
Brenda graduated from Potomac High School in 1970. She attended Danville Junior College and Illinois State University.
She was a member of the Potomac Church of Christ. Brenda worked at Tee Pak and Quaker in Danville for several years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, dancing, animals, fishing and shooting with Mike. Brenda loved being around people and joking around. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Potomac Church of Christ, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Burial will follow the service at Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Potomac Church of Christ.
