DANVILLE — Peggy Davis, 72, of Danville, transitioned from life into eternity at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving and supporting family.

Peggy was born on April 11, 1940, in Danville and raised by her mother, Wilma Margret (Shaffer) Holley, and stepfather, Raymond Holley.

She married Tyree Q. Davis Jr. on Sept. 5, 1965, in Danville. They later divorced but continued the love that they shared together for their children. Tyree survives.

Peggy was a graduate of Danville High School. She obtained an associate’s degree from Danville Area Community College and later retired as a dietician at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

She enjoyed the Lord, watching movies and crocheting. Peggy had a special love for her family, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sons, Robert Davis Sr. of Houston, Texas, and Douglas Davis and Tyree Davis, both of Danville; daughter, Tracey Davis of Danville; granddaughter, Amber Davis of Danville; brother, Robert (Mary) Holley of Danville; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma Margret (Shaffer) Holley, stepfather, Raymond Holley; and a brother, Daniel Wise.

A celebration of life will commence at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. A visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. The family is scheduled to be present from 6-7 p.m. Officiating: Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Interment: Allhands Cemetery Oakwood.
