TILTON — Larry E. Key, 69, of Tilton, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1943, in Danville, the son of Thomas Leo and Helen Louise (Jordan) Key. He married Peggy McCoy on Dec. 26, 1965, in Danville. She survives.

Survivors include two daughters, Candy Garowski of Westville and Jenny Reffett of Tilton; three grandchildren, Brandi Hunt of Georgetown, Terri Davis of Tilton and Alex Garowski of Bloomington; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Lucas Keller; and three sisters, Garnet Hawblitzel, Shirley Dieu and Susan Crain all of Danville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Key Jr.; and one sister, Anita Hamblin.

He worked at Frey Tire as shop manager for more than 30 years. He then worked for NACCO and Chemcast where he retired in 2008. Larry loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed gambling, working on cars and working in the garage. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville, with Raymie Gordon officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
