Florence A. Robinson

DANVILLE — Florence A. Robinson, 93, of Danville, formerly of Morton, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

She was born July 29, 1919, to William and Hulda (Horn) Toedte in Cooter, Mo. She married Martin D. Robinson on June 17, 1950, in Nashville, Ill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2003.

Florence is survived by her son, Michael D. Robinson of Morton; daughter, Mary Robinson Speed of Danville; grandsons, Matthew (Sarah) Reeves, Noah Reeves and Samuel Bunting; and six great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Ana, Elijah, Malakai, Silas and soon-to-be born great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; three sisters; and three brothers.

After graduating from Business College, Florence went to work for Shell Oil as a secretary in Tulsa, Okla., and then Centralia, Ill., and she remained there until her marriage to Martin. Florence enjoyed reading a good book and using her skills in the kitchen to feed her family. An enthusiastic fan of Alan Jackson, she attended two of his concerts. Florence liked ladybugs and cardinals. Later in her life she was led to the Lord by her grandson, Matthew.

A celebration of Florence’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, with Pastor Rebert of the First Baptist Church officiating and burial at Roberts Cemetery in Morton at a later date. A visitation will be held prior to services from 12:30-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville.

Memorials may be made in Florence’s name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
