Janice May Terrell

DANVILLE — Janice May Terrell, 72, of Danville, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Janice, “Granny Janny,” was born May 8, 1940, in Iowa, a daughter of Walter and Lois Draegert.

Survivors include her two daughters, Vicky Brown and her husband, Bob, and their two sons, Chase (Maurissa) and their daughter Amelia, and Chad (Bridgette) and their daughter, Madilynn, and Kelly Hawkins and her husband, Chris, and their son, Logan, all of Danville; her son Terry’s children, Misty, Mikayla and Jeremy; a sister, Jean (Charles) Shutt of Indiana; brother, Ross Draegert of Wisconsin; and her cat, Emit. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son Terry Howell.

Mom, “Granny Janny,” loved life and lived it to her fullest. Her quick wit always humored everyone around. Her many passions include reading, watching sports, making afghans, spending time outside, traveling and cooking, a good Bloody Mary and a Michigan Split anytime.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her grandsons loved teasing her and she loved to be teased. But it was her great-granddaughters who pulled at her heartstrings.

She had many friends, young and old, near and far. Spending time with her girlfriends was the highlight of her daily life at Valleyview. She touched the hearts of all.

The family takes comfort knowing she was led into her afterlife by her son Terry.

A private memorial will be conducted when the wisteria blooms.

The family would like to send a very special thank-you to all the staff at Provena USMC, critical care unit and the doctors. You provided strength and guidance for Mom’s transition of life. All of your professionalism, life experiences and, most of all, kindness will forever give us comfort.

Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory in Tilton is assisting the family.
