WELLINGTON — Thelma B. Swartz, 92, of rural Wellington, died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at her home.

Born Jan. 24, 1920, in rural Wellington, she was the daughter of David and Pearl (Evans) Caldwell. She married Otis Swartz on March 18, 1938, at Wellington. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2002.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Dale) Ramert, of Danville; one son, Joseph (Karen) Swartz, of Camdenton, Mo.; one son-in-law, Gene Buhrmester, of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one daughter, Georgie.

She was a member of the Wellington United Methodist Church and the Wide Awake Women’s Club of Wellington. She enjoyed sending cards to friends and family. She was an avid Cubs fan. She also loved spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Wellington United Methodist Church. The Rev. Andy Maxwell will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery at Hoopeston. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Wellington United Methodist Church or to the Cancer Center of Danville, 806 N. Logan, Danville. The Brown-Alkire Funeral Home in Hoopeston is in charge of the services.
