Susie M. (Catterson) Smith

KINGMAN, Ind. — Susie M. (Catterson) Smith, 98, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born Aug. 12, 1914, to the late Alva and Lula Catterson.

She married Earl P. Smith, and he preceded her in death in 1977.

Susie attended Rabb School, worked as the postmistress at the Yeddo Post Office, and she and her husband owned the Smith Jypville Restaurant, which was known for Susie’s delicious pie, yeast donuts and biscuits. They also owned a motel and grocery store in Palm Bay, Fla.

Susie enjoyed gardening, making quilts, being a mother and having great friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Cleoria (Fred) Fox; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; sons, Guy and Jessie; sister, Marie Bishop; and brother, Fred Catterson.

Visitation hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Saturday, Jan. 12, at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S. First St. in Kingman. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. EST, with Pastor Kenneth Majors officiating. Burial will follow at Rockfield Cemetery.
