Leatrice B. Hadley Allen went to be with the Lord at 1:10 p.m. Jan. 8, 2013.
She was born April 17, 1930, in Danville to C. Leroy and Bernice Chambers Hadley.
She was married to John (Jack) M. Allen on Nov. 23, 1947, in St. Anne.
She has lived in Danville all of her life.
Leatrice was the owner and operator of Allen Accounting for 47 years, a member of First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, member of the Illiana Genealogical and Historical Society, of which she was past president, and member of Governor Bradford Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Lea liked making crafts for the children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, working on genealogy, sitting in her sun room watching the birds, watching Illinois basketball and football, and, most of all, family get-togethers. Lea also loved her spoiled dog, Missy.
Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, John M. Allen; daughters, Connie (David) Sellers of Westville, Lisa J. Allen of Brownsburg, Ind., and Tammy (Curtis) Price of Owensville, Ind.; son, Robert (Crystal) Allen of Springfield; grandchildren, Kimberly (David) Hoskins of West Lebanon, Ind., David Sellers of Danville, Terri Sellers of Westville, Lori (Mark) Weir of Wyoming, Mich., Summer Allen and Brittany Allen, of Springfield, Whitney Burton of New Orleans, Eric Burton and Taylor Burton, of Brownsburg, Ind., Kayla Price of Fairfield, Calif., Trenton Price of Owensville, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Lacy and Casey Sellers of Fairmount, Bryson Hoffman of Westville, Dallas, Daelyn and Dhakiya Weir of Wyoming, Mich., Hayden and Breahna of West Lebanon, Ind., Isaiah Mayberry of Brownsburg, Ind.; also a brother Duane (Delores) Hadley of Greenville, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son John Jr.; brother Edsel; and nephew Mike Hadley.
A service to celebrate the life of Lea Allen will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Pastor Peggy Emmert will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, also at Sunset in Danville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
