Emma Jean Estes

GEORGETOWN — Emma Jean Estes, 80, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:14 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

She was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Georgetown, the daughter of Ora Lee and Garnet Jane (Carrington) Miller, both deceased.

She was united in marriage to Donald E. Estes on June 10, 1951, in Georgetown until his passing on July 6, 1995.

Emma was a graduate of Georgetown High School. She was an LPN and worked for Lakeview Memorial Hospital for many years. She later worked for Dr. H. Amin in Georgetown until her retirement in 1996.

She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Emma was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. She really loved her faithful companion, Coco.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Donna (David) Mitchell Sr. of Tilton; her grandson, David Ray (Tiffanie) Mitchell II of Danville; her great-grandchildren, Krissa Sims and Rayllena Mitchell of Danville; and her sister-in-law, Delores (Russell) Kuykendall of Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her precious son, Donald Gene.

A celebration of Emma Jean’s life will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Steve Rutter officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given in her name to the American Heart Association, 208 S LaSalle, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60604-1197.
