MONROE, N.J. — Laura Cox, 83, of Monroe, N.J., passed away at 6:30 p.m. EST Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly, N.J.

Laura was born Nov. 13, 1929, to Fredrick Hoesli and Mary Rentfrow in St. Louis, Mo.

She married Jack Cox, and he preceded her in death in July 1991.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Lori Fite of Burlington, N.J.

Laura worked for Western Union in Decatur and retired from the Vermilion County Auditor’s office. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Danville.

Laura loved watching sports, especially U of I football and basketball. She also loved doing word search puzzle books, watching her soap operas, feeding the squirrels but, most of all, she loved her daughter’s dog, Buddy, dearly and considered him her grandchild.

Laura will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Burial will be a private family ceremony. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made in Laura’s name to the American Cancer Society.
