FITHIAN — Robert V. Davis, 76, of Fithian, passed away at 10:07 a.m. Jan. 31, 2013, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1936, in Fithian, the son of Isaac and Edith (Henning) Davis.

Surviving him are one sister, Kay Mitchell of Danville; nieces, Debbie (Ron) Wernigk of Henning, Lori (Bob) King of Cissna Park, Robyn (Scott) Maxey of South Carolina and Tina (Lance) Deck of Rossville; one nephew, Dean (Lynn) Boys of Jamesburg; one special aunt, Dorothy Moore of Fithian; and one special cousin, Dale Ward of Fithian.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; brother, Donnie; very special cousin, Diana Ward; and his grandparents who helped raise him, Chris (Goldie) Henning.

He helped raise his nieces and nephews, and his greatest joy was helping others. He worked for McCalman’s Construction Company for many years before working at Harland E. Moore until retiring. His favorite hobby was collecting Indian artifacts.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m.  Monday, Feb. 4, at Stearns Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in Robert’s or Diana Ward’s name to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Sunset’s Oakwood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
