A devout Christian wife and mother, she was one of the oldest members of Ridgeview Baptist Church, where for over 40 years she was active in Mission Circle and served on the Missions Committee, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Her hobbies included African violets, gardening, sewing and a variety of crafts. She enjoyed cooking for both family and guests.

In the early years of Danville Habitat for Humanity she was active in refurbishing houses. She also volunteered with Faith in Action as well as Meals on Wheels and enjoyed visiting with those she served.
