Ralph A. “Butch” Cast Jr.

OAKWOOD — Ralph A. “Butch” Cast Jr. went to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning Nov. 20, 2012.

His father, Ralph A. Cast Sr., and his mother, Phyllis J. Cast, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, and their four children, Robert J. (Anna) Cast, John D. Cast, Alyssa R. Cast and Adam (Jeni); and Adam’s children, Becky, Sam, John and Kali.

Butch wished to acknowledge four special angels whom God sent his way to help him when he was down: First, his life-long friend, Lew Lane, who was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed; secondly, his son Robert “Bob,” who stood by his side and always made sure the farm was taken care of; thirdly, his son John, who literally carried him wherever he needed to go when he had no strength left in his legs; and fourth, his loving and gracious daughter Alyssa, whose choice in music and delightful spirit brought constant joy to his heart.

Butch wished to thank all those who faithfully prayed for him. Your prayers strengthened him and his family throughout many years of illness. He wished to send a special thank you to his friend Steve Young, who brought him many days of laughter and fun. To he and Karen’s special friend, Donna Murray-Tiedge, he wished to say thank you for some of the best memories of his life.

Butch always will be remembered for his kind, gentle ways and tender heart. He loved spending time in his cabin in Canada with his wife, mother, children, grandchildren and many friends.

Butch had a very special place in his heart for those who were less fortunate.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danville Rescue Mission.

A Celebration of Butch’s Life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Sunset’s Oakwood Chapel. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian.

Please join Butch’s family in sharing photos, videos and memories of him through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
