HOOPESTON — Lena M. Simpson, 88, of Hoopeston and formerly of Wellington, passed away at 11:14 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

She was born March 23, 1924, in Hoopeston to Luther R. and Mary Boston Hensley.

She married John F. Simpson on July 28, 1966. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2004.

She is survived by her godchild, Mary Lacine; and special friends, John (Kay) Carlson, Jay (Darla) Carlson, Julie (Stephen) Lacine and Joni (Matt) Morgeson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Barbara Ann Wilson.

Lena was the owner and operator of Simpson Farms. She enjoyed golf, music, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was proud to have seen the first night game at Wrigley Field. Lena also liked to spend her winters in the warm Florida weather.

Per Lena’s wishes, no services will be held. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
