KINGMAN, Ind. — Charles L. Allen, 78, of Kingman, passed away at 5 p.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Wallace on Dec. 12, 1933, to the late Archie T. and Ura (Bowman) Allen.

He married Clarissa C. (Caton) Allen on Sept. 8, 1999, in Bluffton, Ind.

He attended Kingman High School until he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old.

Charles proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received eight medals, including the Combat Action ribbon and the Good Conduct with silver medal.

In his younger years, he was a body builder. He loved fast cars, raced drag cars and motorcycles, was a daredevil, admired Dale Earnhardt and always lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife, Clarissa, of Kingman; a stepson, Fleetwood (Samantha) Caton III of Crawfordsville; a brother, Robert Burtron of Beauford, S.C.; two sisters, Sue Blanchard of Rockchester, Ind., and Nancy (Dallas) Hammond of Lebanon, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Clarissa and Fleetwood Caton IV.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Jr.; and two sisters, Kathy Mitilla and Mary Brinigar.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 3, from noon EST until time of service at 2 p.m. EST at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S. First St., Kingman. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, with full military honors. Sanders Funeral Care has been entrusted with care.
