EL PASO, Texas — Mary Joan Roderick Polasek passed away suddenly Dec. 4, 2012, at the age of 75, after a short illness.

She lived in El Paso, Texas, where she and her husband, the late Bill Polasek, had been involved with mission work in Mexico for the past three decades. Mary Jo continued the gospel tract distribution ministry and fellowshipped with the believers at Riverside Bible Center until she went to be with the Lord.

Mary Jo was born Jan. 31, 1937, to the late Lois and George Kenneth Roderick.

Mary Jo graduated from Rossville High School and Lakeview College of Nursing.

Mary Jo’s special delight was in caring for her 2-year-old grandson, Ethan Polasek, two days a week.

She is survived and will be missed by her children, Jason Polasek and Jonathan (Tess) Polasek of El Paso, Texas, and Sue Bardsley, Ruth (Helio) Guadarrama and Mark (Sherrie) Polasek, all of Colorado; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Anita (Martin) Kaiser and Judith (Ron) Winkler, of Illinois; two brothers, Byron (Rita) Roderick of Colorado and Terry (Dee) Roderick of Florida; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Patty) Polasek, of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, Ronald (Wanda) Roderick and George (Sherri) Roderick.

A public visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Harding-Orr-McDaniel Chapel in El Paso, Texas. The graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.
