LAKELAND, Fla. — Paula Kay Newton, 45, passed this life Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at her home in Lakeland, Fla.

Immediate family gathered for a private viewing at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 9. A memorial service followed at Turning Point Baptist Church in Mulberry, Fla., Pastor Mike Rippy officiating.

Paula was born Feb. 5, 1967, in Danville, daughter of Carol A. Pichon (Herbert H.) and the late Jerry L. Newton, of Florida/Alabama. She attended Danville High School.

Also surviving are three daughters, Summer Newton of Danville, Amber Becker of Lakeland, and Pagen Newton of South Carolina; sisters and brothers, Dawn Newton Koers (Chris) of Texas, Julie Neal (Carl) of Catlin, Kenny Pichon of Champaign and Bob Pichon of Danville; two grandchildren, William and Makenzie, of Lakeland; many nieces and nephews, including Brandon, Amanda and Justin Koers, all of Texas.

Paula loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved country music, worship music and she was a compassionate friend. She loved all animals, domestic or wild, and named them all. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 41:10.

Memorials may be made to any organization that cares for or protects animals or wildlife.
