DANVILLE — Harold Arthur Pilkington Jr., 64, of Danville, finished his long battle with cancer at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1948, in Gary, Ind., to Harold Arthur Sr. and Edna Maxine Bailey Pilkington. He was first married to Barb Pilkington. He later married Crystal McBee, who preceded him in death in 2008.

He is survived by three daughters, Robin Pilkington of Covington, Ind., Tracey (Brad) Wright of Covington, Ind., and Jessica Potts of Danville; brother, Arthur (Kory) Pilkington of Franklin, Wis.; stepmother, Mari Dunifer; grandchildren, Tristian, Evan, Gavin, Noah, Logan, and Khai; four nieces and nephews, Valerie, Laura May, Carl and Kelli; great-nephew, Shawn, as well as several other great nieces and nephews; and his three dogs, Choco, MoMo and Domino.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Jason McBee; a sister, Patty; and a niece, Marilyn Toliver.

Harold had last worked at Lowe’s for 10 years until his retirement, and had previously been employed at the Commercial-News. He loved to work outside and fiddle around in the garage and had enjoyed golf and fishing in the past. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and his dogs.

A service to celebrate the life of Harold Pilkington will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Pastor Drew Mentzer will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday, also at Sunset in Danville.
