HOOPESTON —
Beverly Jean Wallace, 83, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 20, 2012, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Senior Living in Hoopeston.
She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Rossville, the daughter of Arthur and Hattie (Bertram) Cornell.
She married Robert Jack Wallace on Oct. 31, 1947, in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2007.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Edwards of Hoopeston; five sons, Steven (Frances) Wallace of Conway, Ark., Larry A. “Red” (Wanda) Wallace of Hoopeston, Michael Wallace of Hoopeston, Robert M. Wallace of Aurora, Colo., and Brian Scott (Lee) Wallace of Hoopeston; five brothers, Bob (Virginia) Cornell, Charles (Lucille) Cornell, Ray (Marlene) Cornell, Melvin (Tina) Cornell and Dean (Susie) Cornell; five sisters, Arthina Street, Dorothy Swan, Helen (Jack) Bergman, Carolyn (Jack) Haltiwanger and Sharon (Jim) Pollitt; 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Jeff Wallace and Bruce Janov; one great-grandson, Carter Wise; one sister, Frances Cox; and one daughter-in-law, Carol Wallace.
Mrs. Wallace worked at Howard Industries in Milford until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Beverly was a past member of the Hoopeston American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.
She enjoyed volunteering for the Hoopeston Hospital Auxiliary, square dancing, doing crafts and traveling, especially her yearly trips to the Grand Ole Opry.
Beverly also enjoyed furthering her education by taking online college courses in her adulthood.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 24, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Richard D. Branaman officiating. Burial will take place at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
