DANVILLE — Thomas Plowman Jr., 72, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Pape’s.

Tom was born in Irvin, Ky., on Nov. 29, 1940, to Thomas and Dorothy Tipton Plowman Sr.

He attended schools in Columbus, Ind. He served in Okinawa with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1957-1979. He retired from the Danville Sanitation District after 22 years of work.

He was a member of Catlin Mason Lodge 285. He was a member of Ansar Shrine and helped transport children to the Shiner’s Hospital. He was a member of VFW 2395 in Covington, Ind.

He is survived by his son Tom Plowman; son John Plowman; daughter Misty Moody; daughter Brandi Gustin; and grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, Jacob, Charity and Harlee. He is survived by his sisters, Wilma Greenlee and Lil Mitchell.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, mother and younger brother Donald.
