DANVILLE — Marian Berthold, 92, of Danville, passed away at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana.

Marian was born Sept. 14, 1920, to Adolph and Maude (Schimmel) Schultz in Danville.

She married Eugene A. Berthold on Oct. 19, 1941, in Danville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1973.

Marian is survived by two sons, Terry (Jeanette) Berthold of Troutville, Va., and Thomas (Janice) Berthold of Saratoga, Calif.; three grandchildren, Todd Berthold of Bristol, Tenn., Timothy Berthold of Miami, Fla., and Alison Smith of Buellton, Calif.; one step-great-grandchild, J.V. Allison of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Ralph Schultz and Alvin Schultz of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Eugene.

Marian graduated from Danville High and went on to work as a secretary and administrative assistant at Leverenz Memorials and Ray O’Herron Company.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active with the Eunice Society. Marian loved cooking and playing cards as well as spending time with her many friends.

Her grandchildren were the joy and love of her life. God blessed her with a wonderful family, and she will be greatly missed by them.

A celebration of Marian’s life will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-3 p.m., also at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville.

Memorials may be made in Marian’s name to Trinity Lutheran. Condolences may be left at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
