COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. — Jesse E. Dungan, 103, passed away at 10:25 a.m. EST Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at The Oaks in Columbia City, Ind.

He was born March 21, 1909, in Huntington, Ind., the son of Clyde and Verda (Humbert) Dungan.

He married Doris F. Wiley on Feb. 26, 1929, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 2005.

He moved in 2003 from Danville to Warsaw, Ind.

Survivors include two sons, Jack (Wanda) Dungan of Danville and Michael Dungan of Danville; two daughters, Dorette J. Hess of Huntertown, Ind., and Marilyn J. (Don) Rice of Warsaw, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded by a brother, Carl Dundan, and two sons, Robert E. Dungan and James L. Dungan.

He had been the office manager for Kraft Foods in Kendallville, Ind., and Danville for 42 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge and Central Christian Church in Danville. He enjoyed taking long drives to find new places for lunch and enjoyed a beer every now and then. His favorite pastime was working puzzle books and he was proud of the fact he could complete the puzzles without crossing out the word clues or numbers. He took no medications and still lived alone until one year prior to his passing.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 10, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Ind. Services will begin at 4 p.m. EST Monday at the funeral home. The date was his wife’s birthday. Burial will be in Star of Hope Cemetery, Warren, Ind., at a later date.
