Nellie S. Whyde

COVINGTON, Ind. — Nellie S. Whyde, 98, of Covington, Ind., passed away at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Mrs. Whyde was born Dec. 29, 1913, in Cates, Ind., the daughter of Stephen B. and Cora I. (Babb) Allen.

She married John Whyde Oct. 29, 1935, in Danville, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1965. She is also preceded in death by a sister.

Surviving family include a son, Ethan (Mary) Whyde, near Kingman, Ind.

Nellie graduated from Kingman High School in 1931. She was employed by The Fountain Trust Company in Covington for 20 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington for many years.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, Ind., with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Visitation will begin at noon EST and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Coal Creek Cemetery south of Covington.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church in Covington.
