CHRISMAN — Joseph Charles Taylor, 88, of Chrisman, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Indianola, the son of Bee and Bessie (Murray) Taylor, both deceased.

He was united in marriage to Esther “Fritz” Dunwoody on Nov. 25, 1948, in Indianola, until her passing on Feb. 8, 1998.

He will be missed by his son, Rick (Pam) Taylor of Chrisman; his daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Hodge of Chrisman; his grandchildren, Shelby (Chris) Phipps of Chrisman, Jefferson Taylor of Jacksonville, Sydney Taylor of O’Fallon, Katlyn Taylor of Chrisman, Clint (Tammy) Hodge of Georgetown and Craig (Cassie) Hodge of Chrisman; his great-grandchildren, Hudson Phipps and Cody Hodge; and his sister, Thelma Baldwin of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Eugene Taylor; his sister-in-law, Lucille Taylor; and his brother-in-law, Harold Baldwin.

Joe graduated from Indianola High School and was a lifelong farmer in the Chrisman area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chrisman. He enjoyed camping and boating. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman, with Kenney Bass and Kevin Coe officiating.

Memorial donations may be given in Joe’s name to Pleasant Meadow Christian Village in Chrisman.
