VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Terry L. Merrill Sr., 62, of Veedersburg, Ind., passed away unexpectedly during his sleep at his residence Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.

He was born Sept. 24, 1950, in Crawfordsville, Ind., the son of Fredrick Merrill Sr. and Carol J (Blunk) Merrill.

He married Sylvia McClure on March 7, 1972, in Veedersburg.

Surviving family include his wife, Sylvia Merrill, Veedersburg; his mother, Carol Merrill, Veedersburg; a daughter, Catherine (husband, Eduardo) Herrera, Veedersburg; a son, Terry (wife, Leslie) Merrill Jr., Veedersburg; a brother, Arthur (wife, Kelly) Merrill, Florida; a sister, Luann Merrill, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Merrill Sr.; and two brothers, Fredrick Merrill Jr. and Timothy Merrill.

Terry graduated from Fountain Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed at Alcoa in Lafayette, Ind., for 20 years, and was employed recently at Masterguard in Veedersburg for the past 10 years. He was a member of the VFW in Covington.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing, socializing with his friends and family, and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3–6 p.m. EST Sunday, Feb. 3, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. EST Monday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at VA National Cemetery in Danville, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 288.
