Janine M. Wright

CAYUGA, Ind. — Janine M. Wright, 78, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:30 a.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Ind.

She was born June 26, 1934, in Richmond, Ind., the daughter of the late Ralph and Marie Stricker Turner.

She married Gene Wright on Dec. 7, 1951, in Terre Haute, Ind. He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Michael Gene (Cheryl) Wright of Indianapolis, Margie (Tim) Faircloth of Pendleton, Ind., Teresa (the Rev. Don) Morgan of Cayuga, Ind., and Susan Powell of Charlestown, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann (Kenneth) Sweet of Lafayette, Ind., and Opal Swank of Crawfordsville, Ind.; two brothers, Gary (Marilyn) Turner of Athens, Ala., and David (Patty) Turner of Washington state; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Delma Rahm, Joann Moore and Lola McLain.

Janine was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle “Mitzi” Wright; sister Betty Thornburg; and brother Ralph “Bud” Turner.

Janine was a medical transcriptionist for 15 years, working at the former St. Elizabeth and Lakeview hospitals in Danville. She was a 55-year member of the Cayuga Christian Church where she was very active in the choir, vacation Bible school, Women’s Christian Fellowship. She also helped with the Girl Scouts of America cookie fundraiser.

Janine was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. She enjoyed playing bunco, baking/decorating cakes, crocheting, sewing and cooking. When she was younger, Janine was very fond of roller skating and, later in her life, Precious Moments figurines. She was especially fond of her dog, Buffy.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Friday, Feb. 15, at Cayuga Christian Church, with visitation one hour prior to services. Officiating: Keith Warner. Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Ind. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 14, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Ind.
