Evelyn Jane Ponder, 84, of Danville, was called to Heaven on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL 61832 with Kent Pitcher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery.

Evelyn was born June 13, 1928, in Danville to Fred and Martha (Magnus) Rassett. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and Danville High School. Evelyn worked for many years in the factories of Danville, including GE, Bohn, and TeePak, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring. Evelyn enjoyed socializing, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Evelyn married Leroy Ponder on March 13, 1971, in Danville; he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie (Steve) Summers and a son, Danny (Judy) Anderegg; four grandchildren, Misty (David) Gouard, Ashley Lynch, Charla Anderegg and Starla Anderegg; nine great-grandchildren, Brian, Dallas, Rickie, Sydney, Soriah, Blake, Bryce, Brandon and Jayce; a sister, Bernice Lane; and special nieces and nephews, Judy, Shelly, Jeff, David and Molly. She also leaves behind her in-laws, Elza and Betty, Jim and Elsie, Russell and Geneva and their children, as well as many other close friends and family.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ed Rassett; a sister, Mildred Drews; and her loving husband of 37 years.
