Victor Owen Wimsett Jr., 81, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Danville, a son of Victor Owen and Opal Hustler Wimsett Sr.
He is survived by his children, Tonya (Jeff) Galyen of Georgetown, Victor Owen Wimsett III of Westville, Brad Wimsett of Poplarville, Miss., and Butch (Sue) Clauson of Danville; sisters, Peggy Adair of Tilton and Marsha Wimsett; grandchildren, Misty Smith, Ron (Jody) Clauson, Rhiannon Shelato, Tony Hafner, Tori Shivley, Carmella Rollins, Kelli (Rob) Taylor, Sommer Dishman, Dawn Short, Lisa Wimsett, Teri (Jason Lowe) Galyen, Tabetha (Jason) Ellis and Jeffery Scott (Brandi Hunt) Galyen; step-grandchildren, Tim Shelato, Cathy (Carl) Waterstradt and Becky (Billy) Steele; 25 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Carl (Margaret) Hafner; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teri Hafner; three sons, Randy, Billy and Brian Wimsett; two grandchildren, Butch Clauson and Brandon Nixon; two great-grandchildren, Victoria Taylor and Dale Brandonberg; and a brother-in-law, Ike Adair.
Victor was a plant engineer at Hyster, retiring in 1985. He then worked at Dresser Industries in Galion, Ohio, until retiring in 1998. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Victor enjoyed being around his family, golf, treasure hunting, metal detecting, feeding the squirrels and birds, John Wayne and loved his PBR.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated and services will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory is assisting the family.
