Pearlie Mae Lobley Davis

DANVILLE — 1937-2013

Sister Pearlie Mae Lobley Davis departed this life March 10, 2013, at the age of 75.

Pearlie Mae Lobley was born March 22, 1937, in West Memphis, Ark., to Elijah Lobley and Vestie Westland Lobley, who preceded her in death.

Sister Pearlie Mae Lobley Davis moved to Danville, where she fellowshipped with Antioch Baptist Church in Danville under the Rev. Lucious Barber. In the past, she was temporarily employed for six months at Quaker Oats.

She had the sweetest spirit and was a loving wife, loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, cooking, singing and loved spending time with her family.

She was married to Jimmie Nat Davis Sr. on Aug. 26, 1953. He survives.

She leaves to cherish her memories: 13 children — nine daughters, Shirley Davis Cross (the late Richard Cross, of Danville), Diane Davis (Wayne) Bryant of Danville, Delores Davis Shack (the late Donald Shack) of Kokomo, Ind., Carolyn Davis Kirk of Danville, Cathy Davis of Danville, Lisa Davis (Andrew) Jones of Danville, Jackie Davis of Indianapolis, Tammy Davis of Danville, and Gwen Davis of Danville; four sons, Jimmie (Karen) Davis Jr., Gary Davis of Loda, Randy (Tonya) Davis of Danville, and Anthony Davis of Danville; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces nephews and other relatives and many friends; and two special God-sent people who came into her life, Tami Miller Reynolds of Tampa, Fla., and Antonio M. Smith of Memphis, Tenn. She is survived by one sister, Lillie Worthington of Danville; and one brother, Cleo Westland of Charlotte, N.C.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Westland and Mary Hunt; and two brothers, Roosevelt Lobley of Danville and Woodrow Lobley of Danville.

A celebration of life will commence at noon Saturday, March 16, at Life Church, 2105 N. Bowman, Danville. A visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of the service. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Eulogist: Pastor Lucius Barber. Expeditor: Pastor Archie Neal. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery.
