DANVILLE — Bessie L. Vrentas, 94, of Danville, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Hawthorne Inn.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007. at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Garden, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL 61832 with Rev. Father George Pyle Presbyter officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, with Trisagion Services at 7:30 pm at Pape’s. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Bessie was born Jan. 18, 1912, in Levidi, Greece, to Stavros and Eleni Gindonis. Her schooling was in Levidi, Greece. She was a member of St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, St. Barbara’s Ladies Society, Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church and Iris Chapter 307 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bessie married Louis James Vrentas on Aug. 16, 1936, in Levidi, Greece, and he preceded her Nov. 18, 1961. Survivors include two sons: George (Jane) Vrentas and Steve Vrentas, and a daughter: Ellen (Jerry) Walker, all of Danville; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jeff) Small of Arlington Heights, Michael (Heather) Vrentas of White Fish, Mont., Stephanie (James) Spiros of Danville and Jeremy Walker of Danville; four great-grandchildren: Alex and Evan Spiros, Graham and Cole Small and Thea and Miles Vrentas; and two sisters: Margo Papacostandinos of Greece and Kanella Pragastis of Santa Clara, Calif.
