Warren Edward Davan


Warren Edward Davan, 79, of Rossville, died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.

Born June 10, 1929, in Portland Arch, Ind., he was the son of James Michael Davan and Daisy Ellen Hannon. He married Patricia Ann White on June 10, 1951. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1984. He later married Hazel Evelyn Rudolph on Jan. 18, 1986, and became a stepfather to her three children Donna, Melvin and Mike. Hazel survives in Rossville.

Other survivors: Daughter, Marcia Ann Dukes of Rossville, a florist at Berry’s Garden Center in Danville; son, Lynndel Warren (Lisa Satterwhite) Davan of Hoopeston, the owner of Davan’s Body Shop in Rossville; grandchildren: Abby Gay, Kristopher Dukes, Jennie (Davan) Thornsbrough and Michael Davan; and great-grandchildren: Alexis, Devin and Baily

Preceded in death by: his father, James in 1986 and his mother, Daisy in 1986

Mr. Davan was a farmer and lived his entire life on his farm in the Rossville area. He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. He was a commissioner of the Pleasant Hill Drainage District. Warren’s hobbies included making wooden bowls, wooden angels and little baskets from nut shells. He loved to give them away to friends and strangers, as he and Hazel traveled and vacationed around the United States.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 10, 2009, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. Officiating: Pastor Earl Eells. Burial: Rossville Cemetery.
