Alice R. McCorkle, 85, Tipton, Ind., died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Tipton Hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Hamilton County to William and Julia (Beal) Ziegler. She married Donald E. McCorkle on June 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1990.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She belonged to the St. Christopher Auxiliary, St. John’s Rosary Society, Legion of Mary and the Double Dozen Home Extension Club.
Alice is survived by six children, Mike McCorkle and wife Sandi, Converse, Ind., Janice Ley and husband Phillip, Tipton, Ernie McCorkle and wife Pat, Fort Myers, Fla., Debbie Conaway and husband Rick, Tipton, Donnie McCorkle and wife Kelly, Danville, and Allen McCorkle and wife Ronda, Sweetser, Ind.; two brothers, William Ziegler, Jr. and Richard Ziegler, both of Tipton; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Leonard, Elmer Ziegler and one sister, Martha Duffey.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. EDT Monday, July 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with a Rosary service at 6 p.m.
