DANVILLE — Norman S. Edinger, 81, went to be with the Lord at 10:32 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his home in Danville.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, with Pastor Peggy Emmert officiating. Visitation: 3-7 p.m. Monday at Pape’s. Memorials: Provena Cancer Center, 806 N. Logan, Danville, IL 61832, or American Heart Association. Burial: Sunset Cemetery.

Norman was born July 10, 1931, in Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pa., to Norman Alfred and Ethel Irene Beck Edinger. He attended Montandon, Pa., grade school and high school. He attended Penn State University. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a tool and dye maker at Danville Metal Stamping from 1955-1976. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #38 and American Legion Post 210. He enjoyed outdoor activities and loved spending time with his family and his dog, Penny.

Norman married Dorothy on April 27, 1968, at Wysox, Pa., United Presbyterian Church, and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Linda Gritten, John (Wendi) Maguire, Margaret (David) Garland and Gary (Monica) Edinger; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred (Grace) Edinger, Allen (Debra) Edinger and Larry (Sue) Edinger; and special friends, Carl Powell and Thresia Kalichera.

He was preceded by his parents; a daughter, Mary Lou Stewart; a sister, Emma Hauck; two grandsons, Nicholas and Joey; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
