Emma R. Pasierb, 89, of Westville passed away at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Danville, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Russian) Siglinsky. She married Ted Pasierb on Oct. 30, 1948, in Danville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1985.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Larry) Myers of Littleton, Colo.; sons, Michael Pasierb and Ted Pasierb, both of Westville; grandchildren, Tim (Laurie) Myers of Centennial, Colo., and their children, Katelyn, Kyle, and Matthew; Todd (Donna) Myers of Woodbridge, Va., and their children, Nicole and Morgan Myers; Tyler (Laura) Myers of Geismar, La., and their children, Sean, Paige and Luke; Melissa (Joel) Love of Boulder, Colo., and their child, Elijah Love; and Emily (Nick) Cadman of Champaign, and their children, Adrian and Warren; and one sister, Mary Farrell of Westville. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Anna Oswalt, Elizabeth Wallner and Helen Abbott.
Emma worked in a war factory in Cleveland, Ohio, during World War II and then worked at GE for 35 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish. She enjoyed watching the movies “Casablanca” and “My Fair Lady” and was a fan of Lawrence Welk. She religiously watched “Wheel of Fortune.” She loved visiting her friends at the YMCA, YWCA, and the Vermilion County Courthouse. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved going to the children’s museum, swimming, and going the West Side Park in Champaign with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Emma’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville. The Rev. Timothy Sauppe will officiate. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
