Dorothy Ann Hale, 81, of Danville, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hoult Cemetery in Chrisman. Memorials may be made to The Sharon L. Bassett Foundation, 42 Virginia Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
Dorothy was born Dec. 9, 1928, to Harry and Angeline (Ladiha) Crossley in Clinton, Ind. She attended Clinton grade school and high school.
Dorothy enjoyed raising her children and being a homemaker. She also worked in the District 118 cafeteria, sold Avon and Tupperware, and worked in the snack bar at Zayre’s. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, doing plastic needlepoint and word searches, and making Sunday dinner for everyone. She especially enjoyed her winters in Wildwood, Fla., with Richard.
Dorothy married Richard Earl Hale I on May 17, 1952, in Wisconsin; he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie (Bob) Ellis; a son, Richard (Debra) Hale II; six grandchildren, Amanda Hale, Richard Hale III, John Hale, Betty (Rob) Collins, Robbie (Tori) Ellis, and Jeff (Amy) Ellis; eight great-grandchildren, Bradie, Cara, Kodi, Taylor, Walter, Mathew, Skyler and Sophie; another great-grandchild in May; and six siblings, Freda Crawford, Veda Yowell, Colleen (Harry) McClam, Mary Strole, Frank (JoAnn) Crossley, and Harry (Sue) Crossley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
