Henry James 'Gee Gee' Robinson

DANVILLE — Henry James “Gee Gee” Robinson, 90, of Danville, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care Center.

He was born in Wadsworth, Ala., on Dec. 4, 1922. Henry was the son of Julius Robinson and Priscilla and Henry Goodson. He later moved to Danville.

Henry served in the U.S. Army and retired from the VA medical center housekeeping department.

Mr. Henry “Gee Gee” Robinson was preceded in death by his mother; both fathers; a baby sister named Mary; five aunts; and favorite cousins, Alfred Berry and Josephine Bibb.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Robinson; children, “Peachie” Tyler-Ellis, Terry Tyler, Duane “Dujie” (Mary) Tyler and Priscilla Robinson-Givens; granddaughter, Nija Givens; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A home-going celebration for Mr. Henry Robinson will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Visitation also will be 1-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams. Officiating: Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Interment will be at Danville National Cemetery.
